Back: The Gandy Bridge is a seven-mile structure of concrete and steel spanning Tampa Bay to connect St. Petersburg and Tampa. It shortens the auto route between the two cities by 25 miles. The approaches on either side were built on the land dredged up out of the bay, and are lined with Australian pines.
