This tintype photograph features a well dressed older man with a beard and slightly rosy hand painted cheeks. Very few of the tintype photos are found with added hand painting. The subject is looking a little serious, as is common in photos from this time, as they had to sit for an extended period of time while the photograph was taken. The photograph was likely taken in the 1860s or 1870s, when tintypes were most popular. Based on the edges, it appears that at one time this photograph was bound in an album.
