On back: “WORLD FAMOUS PHENOMENON” Here at Saint John, where the Saint John River empties into the Bay of Fundy, nature presents the spectacular phenomenon of the Reversing Falls Rapids. At high tide, the Bay rises 28 1/2 feet causing the river to reverse itself, and the resulting turbulence is noticeable as far as 80 miles upstream. At low tide, the tidal waters are 14 1/2 feet below river level, and the rapids can once again smash out to the sea.
