"Dear friend: - I am sorry I sent that letter to you. [Illegible] it was so frivolous I didn't know Mrs. H was dead until yesterday. Found it out at school. + my folks never knew it until last night. And that letter wasn't very appropriate for such a time. I am sorry she died, but I suppose it was the best for her. Nelson is going to have a card party Sat. night + wanted me to invite you. But I didn't know whether you would come or not".
