Victorian Woman in Unique Feather Hat and Ornate Dress - Rare Size 1900s Photograph - Marion Aye Style Fashion

This woman is covered in feathers from head to toe! Perhaps a prominent actress or fashion-forward socialite, she displays the opulent animal pelt styles of late Victorian fashion. Her curls and makeup remind me of an early-20th century actress, like Dorothy Sebastian or Marion Aye! 

Specifically nearing the 1880s, hats covered in feathers were en vogue in Victorian fashion, using ostrich feathers or, later on, egret and heron feathers. The feather motif continues in her shawl and the handheld stole she displays, with white faux feathers tipped with black reminiscent of ostrich or eagle feathers. 

Her dress is printed with a beautiful embroidered floral motif only overshadowed by the opulence of the feathers.

Condition:  Adhesive residue on top back of photo, mild cracks and crazing around edges.
