This unique engagement photo features a young couple sharing a book, with the lady's hand (and engagement ring!) posed delicately on her fiancé's shoulder. Perhaps they are scholars. She wears a beautiful, intricate dress featuring pearl embellishments and a corded waist, and she accessorizes with a dainty watch and a fancy updo. He wears a simple suit, and his hair is immaculately slicked back with a perfect curl at the front.

The photographer behind this photo was R. D. Bayley, former President of the Photographic Association of Canada and of the Huron Photographic Society.
