This stylish woman was fashion-forward and fanciful in her day with an early pompadour hairstyle topped with a rose and a dress adorned with lace frills. She looks just like a wedding cake in this photo, beginning with the oh-so-famous Gibson Girl Pompadour made popular by Charles Dana Gibson's turn-of-the-century illustrations, topped with a delicate white rose! Her classic Edwardian dress matches the light-as-a-feather style with delicate lace and a large, flower-shaped bow.

This photo, though chock-full of early Edwardian style, uses a Victorian photo-printing technique (or maybe color filters to replicate Victorian photos) -- the sepia tone is associated with albumen (egg-white) printing! The beveled cardboard frame was introduced in 1892 as a fancier alternative to traditional cards, and black was the most enviable, luxurious color. Embossed framing designs, too, were introduced in 1894 and defined the style of photos at the turn of the century.

Height: 6 3/4"
Width: 4 3/4"

Condition: Mild discoloration, creasing, and stains on card front and back, with adhesive residue on back. Photo is remarkably untouched!
