This cabinet card features a stylish woman from the 1890s who had her picture taken, perhaps to immortalize this fabulous look, or to celebrate graduation from a specific program. She wears a ribbed top, which showcases the technical skill of new sewing technologies in use at the time, complimented by an ornately trimmed jacket which continues the ribbed lines vertically, Her pompadour is also very early Edwardian and fashionable for her age!
The beveled cardboard frame was introduced in 1892 as a fancier alternative to traditional cards, and black was the most enviable, luxurious color. Embossed framing designs, too, were introduced in 1894 and defined the style of photos from this time.
Height: 4 1/4"
Width: 5 3/4"
