The August Paulson Building was built in the period of 1908-1911 and was designed by Dow and Hubbel Architects. When it was added to the skyline, It was the tallest and grandest building in Spokane. Twenty years later a second building was added which was a Medical and Dental Center. The original building was significant as it was an all-steel construction high rise project, styled after the Chicago school of Architecture begun by Louis Sullivan.
