"This Old Court House whose cornerstone was laid in 1839 and completed in 1862, is situated on the grounds formerly contained a whipping post used in 'dispensing justice.'' This historic structure was the scene of the Dred Scott Trial and also the starting point of the Daniel Boone Trail."
