In accordance with a custom of colonial days, at the death of George Washington the room in which he died was left vacant for three years and Mrs. Washington occupied the room in the attic directly over it. It was here that she died. No. 61494, this series, shows the room in which Washington died, No. 61592 an exterior view of Mt. Vernon Mansion, and No. 61591 the Tomb of Washington.
