Back: Jackson County Courthouse - Brownstown, Indiana 47220 Jackson County and Brownstown were organized in the same year 1816. Jackson County, was named for Andrew Jackson, hero of Battle of New Orleans. Brownstown, was named for Gen. Jacob Jennings Brown, popular hero of the War of 1812. The courthouse was built in 1873. There have been three previous Court Houses.
