With one of the finest ice-free harbors in the world and a modern container terminal, Halifax welcomes shipping from every corner of the globe. The historic Citadel can be seen on the crest of the hill in the background. This natural fortification commands a fine view of the harbour entrance and was heavily armed during past wars. It now contains three fine museums open to the public.
