On back: Castalia Blue Hole. Discovered by Robert Rogers, 1760. The most interesting sight in the Fire Lands today. Depth unknown. Visible depth, 45 ft. Source underground river. The temperature 48 degrees winter and summer. It never freezes and is not affected by floods or drought. Discharges 5,000 gallons of water every minute. Fish cannot live in Blue Hole, as it is absolutely free from air or food. Years ago, it was known as an Indian Medicine Camp; today, it supplies water for a fine brook trout fishing club.
