Back Information: Declaration Chamber, Independence Hall, Philadelphia, PA- Independence Hall, is located on Chestnut St., between 5th and 6th St.s. on the north side of Independence Square. It was built in 1729-35, by the province of Pennsylvania as the Colonial State House. The East Room was occupied by the Second Continental Congress which there made and signed the Declaration of Independence, July 4th, 1776. A facsimile of the document hangs above the speakers rostrum and portraits of signers hang upon the walls.
