"De La Ronde Oaks, Versailles Plantation, near New Orleans, LA. Under these gigantic oaks, Gen. Jackson's men camped Dec. 23, 1814. Here, de La Ronde, then Colonel, planned the Battle of New Orleans fought nearby, Jan. 1, 1815. This is the only large group of old live oaks in the world, 79 trees, planted in 1783 by Major Gen. Pierre Denis de La Ronde, scion of French nobility."
