"Napoleon House, New Orleans- Also known as the Girrod House, erected more than 100 years ago as a refuge for the Emperor Napoleon, who was to be brought to New Orleans from St. Helena by a rescue expedition organized under the leadership of Nicholas Girrod. Bonaparte's death thwarted the plans. Two doors down on Chartres Street is another house which claims the distinction of having been erected as a refuge for Napoleon. Both houses have the backing of local historians."
