The top of the arch is 154 feet above the surface of Lake Huron; the height from the base of buttress to the top of the rock is 50 feet. The arch was formed by action of receding waters in ancient geological times and tells the visitor that the waters of these inland lakes held dominion over the highest part of this Island.
