WWII Naval Shipyard, Vallejo, California - Vintage Photo Postcard

This photo postcard shows a glimpse of Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Vallejo, California, which was a major U.S. submarine and shipbuilding base for the U.S. Navy during WWII. Before becoming a hub for the U.S. intervention in the Pacific Theatre of the war, Mare Island was the site of a failed oil drilling operation.
