1870s Carte de Visite Photo - Bearded Man in Opulent Victorian Setting - Unique Size Antique Sepia Photography

This distinguished photo shows a gentleman sitting in a Victorian-style office setting in the 1870s. He was likely an established businessman or politician to have such a formal portrait taken, and he clearly means business when he stares directly at the camera -- most photography of this time took from older portrait traditions of staring in a comfortable position off to the side, but this man dominates the photo with his look. 

This photo was taken in Harwich, Massachussets across from a community cornerstone, the Cape Cod Exchange. The photographer clearly hand-cut the photo card, as it is a unique size.
