You can almost feel the chill emanating from this snowy photo of a young lady in winter finery! The snow is likely a fake, elaborate prop; photography in this time could not capture outdoor light well, and fancy scenery was the preferred style.. The striking black hat features, as many ladies' hats did in the Victorian era, a panache of dark bird feathers, and the snow falls lightly on the puffy, beret-style hat.
