This lady sports the brand-new (at the time) trench coat fashion popularized by its military use in World War 1. Before Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn brought the trend to the silver screen, people in 1910s America and Britain wore these fashionable coats! This photo was likely taken in the Eastern U.S. or Northern Midwestern U.S., in which wood was the most abundant construction material for telephone poles and houses alike. This woman likely had a friend or traveling photographer take her photo with the newly invented portable camera.
