Officer’s Quarters, Fort Wayne, Detroit, Michigan - Vintage Postcard

On front: Officer’s Quarters, Fort Wayne, Detroit Mich.
On back: OFFICERS’ ROW, FORT WAYNE. Situated inside the limits of Detroit, on t he bank of the river, is historic Fort Wayne, one of the regular posts of the United States army. A portion of the fortifications dates back to the territorial days, including the old barracks and a winding maze of the subterranean passages leading to the magazine. The officers’ quarters face the parade ground, which slopes down the river.

Dear Nell,

I didn't have any news to write. I am just sending you this card to let you know I am feeling fine and hope you are the same. It is real cold here tonight and it snowed quite hard last night. All the towns and citys north of here have had from 2 to 4 in of snow. I am as ever your old palJay".

Mailed: Postmark on Nov 3, 1911 from Detroit Mich. with a green one cent Benjamin Franklin stamp  
Condition: Good with some aging around the edges, some discoloration, and minor damage on the back
