Back: MONTICELLO, HOME OF THOMAS JEFFERSON, northeast facade. Begun in 1769, it was many years being built according to Jefferson’s plans, for bricks had to be made, timber hewn, nails wrought and laborers trained on the scene operations, and much material had to be brought from Europe.
